How To Fix a Computer that is Running Slow
by Ed Lathrop
Being in the business of repairing computers, I find there is one question I get asked far more than any other. It is, "why is my computer running so slow?" A slow computer seems to cause more aggravation to the computer owner than any other problem.
When a computer slows down there are the usual suspects. However, there is often an overlooked problem that is to blame. In this article, we will talk about these usual suspects as well as the often overlooked problem.
Malware And Registry Corruption
It is well documented what spyware and viruses can do to a computer's operation. It can slow it down and in extreme cases it can cause the computer to be unable to start up. Even worse, spyware can steal a person's identity! For these reason, most people have spyware/virus cleaners installed on their computers.
In the last couple of years, registry corruption has become a very big problem for PC owners. Windows XP and Vista registries become corrupted very easily. Because of this, many people have decided to install a good registry cleaner on their computers. This is a great choice because registry corruption will cause a computer to be slow and error prone.
There are times, with no malware or registry corruption present, the computer will still be slow and sometimes error prone. In a case like this, a technician has to go to work locating the problem with the computer. Usually, the first and often the last step isto run a top registry cleaner.
